Now that there's real support for the things I've moved into, like fiber work and functional art, I find myself drifting back into dA. But man, do I ever have a lot of stuff to catch up on.

I haven't been checking deviantART nearly as much as I should. I haven't been submitting things to dA nearly as much as I should. I haven't been creating things nearly as much as I should. I used to be in control of my creativity; I used to be the one at the wheel.  I'm not anymore.  I feel like a boat, a very little boat upon a very large ocean.  But without an oar, a sail, a rudder, I'm completely at the mercy of the elements. Sometimes I get lucky, and wash up on an island.  I can get up, stretch a little, wander around for a while-- but I never get to stay.  Sooner or later, I'm going to get washed out to sea again. I have this massive book of negatives that's at least ten years old, all taken by me.  Then there are boxes of older negatives taken by myself or my father, though I have a suspicion that most of my shots are pretty bad. Then, there are boxes of my grandfather's film, mainly in slide format.  Plus boxes of prints, some of them possibly sixty or more years old. We have a film scanner.  I have no job.  I will be here for a very long time . . .
